I’ve had my endurance clients open with 10 minutes of ‘nose-only + full-sentence talk’ to calibrate Zone 2, then hold that feel while watching for >5% HR drift to decide when to cap the session. Small caveat: in heat or with newer athletes I loosen the nose-only rule and go by RPE about 4 instead.

@cwillis82 I cue Zone 2 by having clients settle at a pace where they can breathe nose-in, mouth-out and recite a 7-digit number; if HR climbs >5 bpm by minute 15 at the same pace, we nudge down 0.2 mph to hold the zone — on the bike I’ll just cap it around 70% FTP. Anyone else using small pace nudges like that?
